THE ROLE
The Director – Derivatives Technology position in the GTIO department is a strategic leadership role focused on business strategy, architecture, implementation, rollout and support of the Derivatives technology solutions. This position coordinates a mid-sized team responsible for business alignment, business architecture, application strategy, technology tools, financial management and team development to focus on the successful implementation of Derivatives and other Investment capabilities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Acts as the technology strategy partner & liaison for all business areas supported and would guide the team in terms of strategic Derivatives roadmaps, application integration capabilities, product challenges and solution definitions.
- Leads the Subject matter expertise on the Derivatives technologies.
- Manages a mid-sized team of employees and contractors representing business analysis, development and quality assurance, organized into Agile scrum teams that align with the business functions or projects. Hiring, coaching, and mentoring talent.
- This position will ensure that the solutions and services are reliable and fully supported. Ensures that the delivery management is effective and efficient. Ensure that the technology teams and applications follow all standards, guidelines, processes, and metrics as defined.
- Financial management of the technology portfolio for the group.
- Collaborating across various MFS department to ensure alignment of solutions across the firm.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or technology-related discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
- 10 – 12+ years’ experience working in the financial industry, preferably investment management firms.
- 12+ years’ experience in developing and supporting Derivatives solutions in the Investment area. Proven expertise to business architecture and support multi-layered business applications and solve complex problems.
- 10+ years’ experience as a subject matter expert on Derivatives.
- 10+ years’ experience managing globally distributed teams that include MFS employees, vendor consultants and product specialists.
- Deep understanding of the Investment management processes including Equity and Fixed Income portfolio modeling with Derivatives, Quantitative models and algorithms, and fundamental research analysis.
- Very good understanding of the investment data supporting the Portfolio management and Research.
- Strong technical, analytical, and business knowledge. Excellent technical understanding of underlying relevant technical architecture and business processes.
- Possesses deep domain knowledge of the industry standards and capabilities, and business knowledge to collaborate with the engineering leads and / or senior leaders of the business portfolio.
- Proven ability to organize, plan, manage/deliver projects with a geographically dispersed cross-functional team in an Agile SDLC framework.
- Strong knowledge of databases including SQL query language or PL/SQL programming.
- Proven ability to maximize resources and communicate with others, both verbally and in writing.
- Proven experience designing and delivering presentations and training to diverse audiences, including senior management, clients and groups that may blend technical and non-technical participants.
- Experience working in an Agile environment, a proven commitment to best practices and a demonstrated ability to coach agile teams.
- Proven ability to hire and mentor new talent.
