What you`ll do

At SAP, we are bringing together state-of-the-art AI technology with our extensive industry-specific data and deep process knowledge to create innovative AI capabilities across SAP products & services. Large Language Models and other foundation models hold immense potential to change the way we work and develop products, ultimately redefining businesses and opening up exciting new research questions. What are effective strategies for agents to interact with Business Data at scale? How should we train foundation models on structured data stored in SAP’s relational databases, contextualized by SAP’s vast operational business knowledge? How does explicit knowledge modeling, in the form of knowledge graphs, enable new neurosymbolic methods? Your task is to help us answer these questions! The Role:

· Pioneer novel methods in AI based on SAP’s vast and unique data, with a strong emphasis on hands-on coding, experimentation, and technical improvements.

· Stimulate academic research by publishing Business AI–relevant problem statements, frameworks, and data sets, and by translating project innovations into impactful research publications and thought leadership in Foundation Models and Generative AI.

· Keep the pulse with the research, providing insights into the latest research findings and making them comparable with internal work.

· Establish, scope and guide SAP-funded research projects at renowned international universities as well as commercial partners

 

What you bring

· PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or other relevant disciplines

· Extensive experience and academic background in Foundation Models or Knowledge Graphs, demonstrated by a profound record of related publications (including recent works) at top tier conferences, and a well-established professional network in these fields.

· Proven experience and deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with collaboration between industrial and academic research.

· Demonstrated hands-on experience in researching, prototyping, and advancing machine learning models.

· Proficiency in Python, and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar. Optionally, hands-on experience with Neo4j, TypeDB, PyG or similar.

· Ideally, experience with Machine Learning and Knowledge Modeling on structured data such as in the ERP or CRM domain

· Proven history of exemplary leadership and strategic mindset, complemented by superior organizational abilities.
