Job Description

The Director of Sports Performance will effectively direct, manage, develop, and provide the delivery of athletic performance and health care services to all 600+ student-athletes and 21 different sport teams who participate in intercollegiate athletics at this institution. The Director of Sports Performance is ultimately responsible for all areas and aspects of sports performance and injury resilience delivery to the student-athletes. In addition, this position is responsible for the Sports Performance staff at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Athletic Training, or related field .(Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with collegiate Baseball, Men/Women Basketball, Men/Women Cross Country, Football, Men/Women Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swim and Dive, Tennis, Men/Women Track and Field, Volleyball, and Wrestling.
  • Hold Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through NSCA or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through CSCCa.
  • Certified in CPR or the ability to obtain certification upon employment.

Preferred Qualification 

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Master’s degree in Exercise Science or related field.
  • 10 years’ experience working with collegiate Baseball, Men/Women Basketball, Men/Women Cross Country, Football, Men/Women Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swim and Dive, Tennis, Men/Women Track and Field, Volleyball, and Wrestling.
  • Experience leading a sport performance staff.

Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

Average hours per week: 65; weekends, evenings, and early mornings. Coverage of practice and home competitions may be warranted. Periods of long standing/walking, noise levels associated with intercollegiate athletics, ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures.
