Global Accounting Manager

The Global Accounting Manager is a key player in Varnish Software’s global finance function. You will be responsible for leading a team and driving our core accounting processes. You will oversee all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all legal entities. This role is crucial for strengthening the financial backbone of our growing business, requiring strong leadership, process ownership, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Staff Management

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals. This includes setting clear goals, conducting performance and salary reviews, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
• Lead the training and onboarding of new team members, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to succeed.
• Delegate responsibilities effectively, ensuring all accounting tasks are handled efficiently and accurately.
• Fully responsible for resource allocation and proactively securing staff resources to fulfill all accounting obligations.

Accounting & Month-End Close

• Own and lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing process across all legal entities.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting packs for auditors, the board, and internal stakeholders, ensuring they are correct and timely.
• Ensure compliance with Maconomy system workflows and act as an internal point of expertise on system usage from an accounting perspective.
• Secure that we have a process to fulfill the IFRS-requirements.
• Lead discussions and reviews with external accounting providers and internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Responsible for Cash flow management, both on a total level and for each entity. Ensure proactive planning to maintain correct cash balances and a robust forecasting model. This responsibility includes analyzing the cash balance outcome versus forecasted levels.
• Secure that accounts payable and receivable are optimized, meaning we optimize our cash flow levels through ensuring correct and timely transactions.

Compliance & Statutory Reporting

• Ensure compliance with local accounting standards and tax regulations in each jurisdiction. This also includes all other types of reporting to local authorities or organisations.
• Coordinate statutory audits, VAT, and corporate tax filings, working closely with local advisors and the CFO.
• Monitor and implement changes to accounting and tax policies, proactively ensuring compliance across markets.
• Secure we have a working process with Capego.
• Internal Controls & Process Leadership
• Champion best practices and internal controls in all accounting-related processes.

• Take ownership of documentation and process consistency, ensuring audit readiness and smooth financial operations.

• Act as a financial leader across functions, partnering with teams in Revenue Operations, People, and Admin to ensure financial alignment.

• Ensure that we have manuals and instructions for each part of the accounting area.

• Secure full control of all admin tasks for each entity, such as power of attorneys, banks, annual general meeting, local organisations etc.

Audit & External Coordination

• Lead preparation for annual audits across relevant entities.

• Manage communication and delivery of financial data and documentation to external auditors and consultants, including planning the process, instructions, and all other communication.

• Ensure timely resolution of audit comments or findings.

Payroll

• Responsible for payroll as a part of the accounting team.

• Oversee the payroll and commission handling, accounting, reporting, and analysis of payroll activities, as well as other admin-related to payroll.

• Enable good collaboration with other functions, such as HR, and other external parties connected to the payroll area.

Other responsibilities

• Main contact person with external vendors connected with the accounting and finance processes, such as banks, payroll solution providers, and auditors.

• Always secure that we have an up-to-date accounting and payroll team, structure, and system.
