Avantor is looking for a dedicated and creative Sr. Specialist - Export Compliance to optimize our Nusil Team, delivering results against some of the most complex business and technology initiatives.
Reports to the Trade Compliance Manager or designate. Supports trade compliance activities and is responsible for ensuring compliance with all international trade laws & regulations governing the import and export of products. Supports all Avantor’s export & import activities. The position will also monitor and recommend updates to trade compliance policies & operational procedures by staying current with the US government regulatory changes or internal corporate organization or procedural changes that pertain to trade compliance.
What we’re looking for :
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience working in international trade compliance.
- Certifications: US Customs Broker license is strongly preferred
- Collaboration Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and SAP knowledge is beneficial
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of the following regulatory areas: US HTS, Schedule B Classifications, BIS and ITAR licensing, Denied Party Screenings.
- Strong knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Foreign Trade (Statistics) Regulations, Foreign Assets Control Regulations (FACR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Strong communication (written, verbal & computer) skills.
- Results driven with the ability to be proactive as well as reactive to handling the unexpected and time constraints
How you will thrive and create an impact
- Conducts day-to-day operational compliance activities regarding US import and export laws & regulations.
- Serves as an expert in US Export Compliance, ensuring that all transactions are handled with reasonable care, including product jurisdiction & classification, licensing, and business partner screening.
- Monitors the trade compliance mailbox for daily requests and other general trade inquiries.
- Completes EEI filings and ACE reporting
- Stays current with proposed and approved regulatory changes that could impact Avantor’s trade compliance activities.
- Collaborates with the Avantor Legal Department and outside legal counsel on trade issues including, but not limited to denied parties, embargoed countries, antiboycott issues and red flag issues for all Avantor trade activities.
- Monitors and recommends updates to the Trade Compliance Manuals and related standard operating procedures. In addition, reports on defined trade compliance attributes monthly & annually.
- Participates in direct customer interactions on trade compliance issues to ensure timely, accurate filing of trade compliance documents and applications.
- Works with the Global Compliance teams to ensure compliance and to identify and develop global work processes for trade into their respective areas.
- Assists with the identification, escalation and reporting of compliance issues
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Transparency:
The expected pre-tax pay for this position is
$80,800.00 - $134,700.00Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
