Position Purpose
Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT Infrastructure and Systems ,the Senior Project Manager is responsible and accountable for managing projects, leading development initiatives and acting as a team leader by supervising the implementation of information technology solutions. The candidate works closely with various levels of senior managers in the university and supervises the evaluation of projects, procedures and operational requirements, and makes recommendations that follow strategic and operational direction of the Program. The candidate acts as an official liaison between Information Technology Services and the Program to identify new technologies, systems and procedures that could be leveraged to the university’s advantage.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Project Management: Manages projects, leads the development initiatives planning sessions and acts as a team leader by supervising the implementation of solutions. Coordinates staff and internal resources. Ensures that appropriate controls and progress reports are prepared regularly. Holds development team accountable for meeting requirements, goals and deadlines. Provides decision-making and successful project delivery by ensuring that functional requirements, solution benefits and risks, project milestones, deliverables, and prioritization are identified. 
  • Expert Advice: Provides expert advice to various levels of senior management, on all matters associated with business analysis, technology recommendations and implementation strategies to ensure a standardized approach that align all initiatives with the university’s vision and direction. Participates in process improvement initiatives to foster creativity and innovation. 
  • Project Development: Ensure optimal development of assigned projects by directing the preparation of studies, designs, plans, specifications and cost estimates. Ensure clear objectives are established by discussing project priorities with client, developing project work plans and schedules. 
  • Stakeholder Relationship: Proactively liaise with and report progress to internal client or project sponsor to ensure that they are informed of project progress and ensure that their opinions or requirements are taken into consideration as the project progresses. Propose and negotiate options or alternative solutions with stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered as per expectations. Establish and maintain positive and effective working relations with all members of the project delivery team and operations team to ensure the efficiency of interactions between the teams. 
  • Contract and Performance Management: Monitor project progress according to contract requirements and ensure proper follow-up is made with professional consultants, contractors, suppliers and vendors. Manage within key performance indicators and other tools to closely monitor and reinforce contract requirements with the support of professional consultants. Monitor the performance of professional consultants, contractors, suppliers and vendors and reinforce contract requirements to ensure the terms of contracts are fulfilled. With the support of the Program Director and Program Managers, protect the University’s interests and execute 990963 Senior Project Manager - Modernization Program Page 2 mitigation plans with non-compliant service providers and approve invoices in accordance with project requirements and terms of contracts. 


What you will bring:

  • University degree in computer science, in business administration, information technology or related field.
  • PMP certification.
  • A minimum of 7 years in project management experience.
