Cybersecurity Software Development Engineer

GEICO’s Cybersecurity organization has an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Cybersecurity Software Development Engineer. This individual will play a key role within GEICO’s Cybersecurity Software Engineering team, with a focus on building, software development.

Position Description:

As a Senior Cybersecurity Software Engineer, you will work with current engineers to innovate and build new systems, while also looking to improve, and enhance existing systems. This role will also help identify new opportunities to solve and prevent critical problems. As a Senior Engineer, you are expected to lead Strategy and Execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise with Open-Source Solutions.

Qualifications:

• Collaborate with managers, team members, and other engineering teams to solve our toughest security and automation problems.

• Accountable for the quality, usability & performance of the solutions

• Deep hands-on experience in complex system design and data pipeline and architectures, scale, performance, and tuning.

• Experience with at least two programming languages, such as Java, Go, Python, C++, etc.

• Experience with at least one scripting language, such as Bash, Powershell, Python.

• Understand open-source security products similar to Security Onion, Snort, Osquery, IDS/IPS, OpenVAS, Defect Dojo, Zabbbix, Grafana, CloudSploit, Suricata etc.

• Be a role model and mentor, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community.

• Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.

• Determine and support resource requirements, evaluate operational processes, measure outcomes to ensure desired results, demonstrate adaptability and sponsor continuous learning.

• Experience in CI/CD pipeline and related open-source tools like GIT/Jenkins/CircleCI/SonarQube. Knowledge in Terraform/Ansible will be big plus.

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.

• Take ownership of delivering solutions end-to-end, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and iterative improvement.

• Innovative, creative, and extremely responsive, with a strong sense of urgency.

• Take leadership with knowledge sharing and assist other engineers in understanding technical and business topics.

• Stay up to date on the latest Cybersecurity trends, technologies, and best practices.

Experience:

• 5+ years of professional software development experience

• 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

• 4+ years of experience in security engineering and technology

• 4+ years of experience with architecture and design

• 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or equivalent education or work experience
