Responsibilities:
- Month-End Close: Own and execute a fast, accurate close process, delivering accurate financials within 5 business days.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate consolidated financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies.
- Journal Entries & General Ledger Management: Prepare, review, and manage journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations – ensuring accurate, clean, and GAAP-compliant books that support a timely month-end close.
- Technical Accounting Research: Research complex accounting issues and draft clear, concise technical memos on new or evolving treatments.
- Annual Audit: Manage the full audit process – preparing documentation, account reconciliations, and working closely with auditors – to ensure everything is completed on time and within budget.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze results, identify trends and variances, and support business decision-making.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency of internal accounting, reconciliation processes, and financial reporting.
- Accounts Payable: Manage the accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy and timely payments to vendors.
- Credit Cards: Manage all company credit cards and process all associated spend.
- Tax Compliance: Support filings (corporate, franchise, etc.) in partnership with external tax advisors.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with FP&A and other teams to drive alignment and support the company’s growth goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA certification highly preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably with public accounting and startup experience
- Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and takes initiative
- Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct) and modern accounting software (e.g. Ramp)
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and data analysis experience
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to reconcile complex financial data
- Proven experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively
