The Research Technician is responsible for the extraction of drugs from equine samples for analysis by mass spectrometry in a large scale, high-throughput, A2LA-accredited analytical laboratory.
At the A level, no previous experience with the extraction protocols is necessary, however some previous laboratory experience is strongly preferred. At the B level, the technician must be able to perform the various extraction protocols independently and be able to perform ELISA drug testing.
Duties will include the login, preparation, and/or analysis of forensic and research samples in a large scale, high-throughput, A2LA-accredited analytical laboratory using provided Standard Operating Procedures and under the oversight of managerial staff.
Perform drug extraction procedures on equine samples using standard operating procedures and complete required reports.
Perform ELISA drug testing as needed.
Assist with sample login and dumping as needed.
Prepare reagents for extraction procedures using standard operating procedures.
Assist with report organization and filing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Penn Vet Equine Pharmacology Laboratory is seeking to employ an Analytical Chemistry Research Technician.
