About the Role:

As a key member of the Global Supply Chain organization, the Sr. Strategic Sourcing Manager leads a team of specialists in the development and execution of sourcing strategies to establish a sustainable competitive edge and achieve outstanding results in quality, service, and cost.  With a focus on the Plastics, Resins & Chemicals category (PRC), this role fosters collaboration between suppliers and all BSC sites and divisions to manage critical activities and meet business objectives, while promoting a work environment that operates according to regulatory guidelines and in compliance with the Quality Policy and Quality System.  At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing a team of Strategic Sourcing professionals and provide guidance, training and opportunities for development; conduct employee reviews and implement corrective actions to achieve top performance 
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive sourcing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Identifying potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities, capacity, and reliability to meet organizational needs
  • Nurturing and managing supplier relationships; negotiate and manage contracts to ensure compliance with terms and conditions
  • Monitoring supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality standards and delivery timelines; implement corrective actions as necessary 
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align sourcing activities with overall business objectives and drive continuous improvement
  • Driving cost reduction initiatives through competitive bidding, effective negotiation, and supplier consolidation
  • Understanding and leveraging industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the sourcing function
  • Maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures to support the BSC commitment to patient safety and product quality

 

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of procurement or related supply chain management experience 
  • Minimum 3 years of people management and/or leadership experience
  • Ability to travel globally up to 15%

 
Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with sourcing plastics, resins and/or chemicals 
  • Experience working in medical device or similarly regulated industry
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals on all levels in and outside of the organization
  • Master’s degree in business administration, supply chain management or engineering
  • Professional certifications – CPIM, CPSM, CPSD, CPCM, Six Sigma Black Belt

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
