Incumbents in this classification performs the duties of the function and performs first line supervisory field work.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate would have graduated from high school or completion of a GED Certificate; and have a minimum of five years’ experience overseeing/managing a Public Utilities Warehouse specifically related to water, wastewater, and reclaimed water materials, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies. Ideal Candidate would have a minimum of 3 years’ direct supervision/team lead experience. Ideal candidate would have strong working knowledge of warehousing and procedures, county purchasing protocols, inventory receiving and invoicing experience, computer knowledge and software experience, work effectively with others and follow procedures and written instructions.  The candidate should be a self-starter/motivator, is detailed orientated, and can plan, organize, and supervise subordinates.  The ideal candidate will possess a valid Florida Driver’s license and will be required to operate a forklift.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Determines priorities, schedules, and assigns work for a large team of employees or multiple teams.
  • Implements management decisions through the work of subordinate employees.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities and projects between multiple teams.
  • Assists in resolving operational and administrative problems and provides direction regarding unusual or complex problems.
  • Recommends new policies, procedures and systems to improve team operations.
  • Supervises assigned staff, evaluates performance and recommends corrective action as needed.
  • Assesses staffing needs and assists in the recruitment of staff.
  • Identifies training needs and conducts or supervises on-the-job training sessions for subordinates.
  • Maintains required documentation and completes reports.
  • Initiates and attends meetings as required.
  • May participate in performing the actual work of the unit and substitutes for subordinates as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
