Description
The Rehabilitation Assistant will be responsible to assist licensed physical and occupational therapists in specified areas of patient care and patient transportation. Also, will be responsible to maintain equipment and treatment areas in both Physical and Occupational Therapy.

Functional Accountabilities
Clinical Support
- Provide assistance to the physical and occupational therapists during group therapy including psychosomatic exercise program and CF exercise group.
- Provide crutchwalking practice under the supervision of a PT .
- Provide whirlpool under the supervision of a PT .
- Assist with the fabrication of adaptive equipment and splints including casts, DAFOs, aquaplast splints and face masks.
- Transport patients to therapy department in accordance with hospital and departmental policies.
- Prepare treatment areas for patient care by cleaning mats, set up equipment and filling whirlpools.
- Clean all equipment and hydrotherapy tanks after patient usage per department policy.
- Maintain established levels of supplies including linens, crutches and small medical supplies.
- Maintain adequate supply of PT/OT billing slips.
- Assist with inventory of equipment and supplies, ordering replacements, when necessary.
- Write progress notes on patients under the supervision of therapists and obtain all appropriate co-signatures.
- Follow all departmental documentation policies under the directions of a therapist.
- Complete paycard, patient schedule and billing in an accurate and timely manner.
- Complete all assignments and provide appropriate departmental operational input as requested.
- Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a manner conducive to efficiency and safety .
- Adhere to all safety and isolation patient care policies.
