About the role

Purpose and Scope: 

Under limited supervision, functions as a working flight attendant and supervises the Flight Attendant Department within the Airlift organization by administering company, organization, and customer policies and procedures.  Performs duties as assigned and reports directly to the Senior Director of Operations and is administratively responsible for all Airlift Flight Attendants (FAs).  The incumbent also provides subject matter expertise to Airlift management regarding contract performance, overall flight operations, and for related policies, procedures, and directives.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

Areas of specific responsibility include:

- Provides work direction to a staff of regular, full-time flight attendants as well as individuals who perform duties as a secondary, additional duty flight attendant (ADFAs).

- Must be familiar with the Collective Bargaining Agreement to ensure all policies and work assignments are in accordance with Company policy and union agreements. Addresses issues, grievances, and participates in negotiations.

- Coordinates with Flight Attendant Scheduler on the flight and duty schedule which maximizes their utilization while coordinating with ADFAs to augment the flying schedule. Accounts for time worked by Flight Attendants, per company policy. 

- Conducts employee evaluations and documents their performance. 

- Makes recommendations to the Senior Director of Operations on promotions, raises, hires and terminations.

- Coordinates recruiting requisitions and interviews prospective employees as necessary. 

- Coordinates with the Aircraft Flight Crew Trainer  to schedule and complete the appropriate ground and flight training to ensure compliance with 14 CFR Part 121, DCMAI 8210.1C, Company requirements, and the Airlift contract;  maintains close coordination with the Operations Scheduling office.

- Monitors all training course curricula for proper context and instruction as required by Federal Regulations and coordinates changes to the curricula to ensure that course material is kept current with all applicable directives.

- Confirms computer based training accomplished.

- Initiates revisions, changes, and deletions to the company FA manuals, FA checklists, and FA training manuals to ensure strict compliance with all applicable directives. Includes:

  • Coordinates and reviews all revisions, changes and deletions to the manuals with all Airlift department supervisors, to ensure changes are incorporated, as necessary, in other appropriate company flight manuals prior to submission for final approval.
  • Oversees the currency of all Flight Attendant Manuals carried aboard the company aircraft and checks these manuals frequently for serviceability. 

- Audits a Flight Attendant Memo File designed to keep Flight Attendant personnel current with changes which may occur between revisions to the Flight Attendant Manual. 

- Recommends new procedures, policies, and directives which would enhance professionalism, standardization, and performance throughout the Airlift Department. 

- Maintains currency as a qualified Airlift FA and flies as workload permits in addition to the duties assigned to the Chief Flight Attendant. 

- Performs annual assessments and Captain upgrade requirements as required. 

- Conducts Initial and Recurrent training and qualification events as required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Liaison with the Chief Pilot, Flight Standards, Flight/Ground Safety, and Station Managers to ensure that the performance of line FAs is properly monitored and that effective procedures are in place to mentor, counsel, and discipline as appropriate and in accordance with union rules/ collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Participates as a member of the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) to improve the safety culture within the Airlift operation.

  • Collaborate on potential and actual safety concerns making inputs to the Airlift Safety Management System process as required to identify areas of risk and methods to reduce or eliminate risk.

  • Prepares for and participates in the Airlift Audit program and the Commercial Airlift Review Board visit.

  • Identify and manage the career aspirations of line FAs and ensure that training plans are in place to meet the needs of flight operations, and to develop FAs for managerial positions.

  • Responsible for adherence to contract standards as defined in the contract as modified, and the statement of work as amended.

  • Perform related duties and assignments as directed by the Program Manager or Senior Director of Operations.
