Senior Manager of Bioinformatics – Biopharma

A successful candidate will use a variety of methods including their knowledge of biology, software and algorithm development, statistics, and engineering to solving complex challenges within the Biopharma group. You will identify areas where existing antibody and library design processes can be improved through the use of bioinformatics and algorithmic tools, as well as provide requested computational support for scientists. You live between biology, data science, and engineering, and believe that some of our most difficult problems can be only be solved at the intersection of these three fields.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Develop state-of-the-art machine learning tools to support biotherapeutic development
• Build tools to assist in the analysis of antibodies, libraries, NGS, and other experimental data
• Architect tools, models, and pipelines, from concept phase to completion, to assist in antibody engineering
• Interface with scientists across the organization to solve complex biological and computational problems in support of drug discovery
• Mentor members of the Bioinformatics team
• Communicate project updates within Biopharma, across the organization, and externally to customers or collaborators

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Computational Chemistry, Structural Biology, Biochemistry, or Data Science
• Expert in one modern programming language (e.g. Python)
• Excellent data science and visualization skills
• Deep understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence
• Experience in the discovery, engineering, or development of biotherapeutics
• Experience with protein modeling software (e.g. BioLuminate, MOE, Rosetta, or similar)
• Track-record translating new ideas to production through publications and/or code
• Ability to effectively deliver and communicate results, both independently and as a team

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing scientific applications, UIs, and GUIs, with open source software
• Broad experience with NGS data analysis, manipulation, and presentation of results
• Computational design and/or QC of combinatorial (antibody or mutagenesis) libraries
• Experience with DevOps, AWS, IaaS, SaaS deployments
• Thorough understanding of software development methods and principles
• Formal software development experience and lifecycle/long-term support

The base cash compensation for this California-based role is targeted at $172,550-$204,556 + bonus + equity + benefits. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above.
