General Summary:

Inspects administration, operating, and passenger facilities/amenities, including maintenance and repair shops, sub-stations, bus stops/amenities, transit centers, rail passenger stations, tunnel systems, workstation reconfiguration, and building management services for Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART's) Maintenance department. Monitors and enforces contract compliance for multiple contracts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs highly complex duties related to technical assignment areas and is responsible for highly complex maintenance projects.
  • Inspect field-operating facilities to include Transit Centers, Rail passenger stations, tunnel systems, bus stops/amenities, etc., for mechanical functionality and contract compliance.
  • Write maintenance work orders for repair, service, and/or replacement actions, as necessary, for all field operating facilities; monitor and enforce work order actions, ensuring completion of required work by contractual requirements.
  • Oversee service contracts for maintenance, landscaping, janitorial, and station cleaning.
  • Receive, review, and approve contractors invoice(s) to ensure accurate billing; post and maintain account payable ledger for contract fiduciary accountability.
  • Write contract and procedural specifications and update contracts as required.
  • Investigate and handle accidents, including maintaining records necessary to implement safety programs.
  • Recognize trends, identify problems, recommend corrective action, prepare statistical analyses, and interpret results.
  • Prepare statistical analysis and interpret results.
  • Interface with City Inspectors and Code Enforcement Officials on matters of Code Enforcement, street repairs, and cooperative work efforts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below-stated minimums, excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Technology, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible technical experience in facility maintenance inspection activities, including mechanical, electrical, and structural inspection, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Must have a valid Drivers License class C and be able to obtain a Texas class A, B, or C within 90 days of employment; no Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) conviction within the last sixty (60) consecutive months, not more than one (1) DWI on driving record, and not more than three (3) convictions of moving violations within the last thirty-six (36) consecutive months on driving record to operate DART non-revenue vehicles.
  • Must pass a physical (medical) examination, including a drug screen, to operate DART non-revenue vehicles.
  • Proficient with personal computer (PC) and software applications such as Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; typical office equipment such as copier, calculator, typewriter, facsimile, etc.
  • Analytical skills to find solutions to technical and administrative problems.
  • Ability to change direction, handle multiple responsibilities and tasks regularly, and make good decisions (without considering how much time it takes) based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the public, co-workers, supervisors, and managers to ensure efficient operations, promote safety, and respond to emergencies. Must also be able to read and comprehend various work-related/required technical manuals, safety rules, and regulations.
