Job Description

Primary Function of Position

The primary goal for this person is to guide and coach a team of operations technicians, ensuring the efficient handling and flow of materials to meet quality and productivity goals within a manufacturing environment. This role involves managing day-to-day activities and ensuring that operational procedures are consistently and effectively followed. The Operations Lead will contribute to the development and introduction of new processes and improvements, providing valuable feedback from direct observation and team experience. They are expected to promote continuous improvement initiatives and exemplify Intuitive’ s leadership and team member expectations.

Essential Job Duties

  • Provide coaching and leadership to a team of operations technicians to meet performance goals (safety, on-time deliveries, efficiency).
  • Monitor job rotations and conduct training sessions to ensure team members are skilled and compliant with ergonomic requirements.
  • Resolve minor interpersonal challenges within the team.
  • Optimize material flow from receipt to delivery, minimizing delays and handling times.
  • Streamline processes to enhance overall efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Implement cost-effective material handling practices.
  • Optimize equipment usage and find ways to reduce labor costs.
  • Enforce safety protocols to ensure the well-being of employees and protect materials.
  • Provide proper training and ensure the use of safety equipment.
  • Manage inventory control systems, reorder points, and on-time delivery schedules.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy from freezer storage to manufacturing floor delivery.
  • Maintain accuracy in labeling, tracking, and documentation to prevent errors and discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with production, logistics, and other departments to ensure seamless material flow.
  • Communicate effectively to manage time-sensitive requests and operational updates.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process enhancements.
  • Review performance metrics and implement changes to improve material handling operations. condition to support production floor.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and/or Smartsheet.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and authorization for employment in the US.
  • If internal, must be recommended for promotion from the area Supervisor and Management team. Promotion approval may be subject to interview process.

Required Education and Training

  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar role within a manufacturing or material handling environment.

Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to work in a controlled environment (i.e., clean room), wearing appropriate attire and meeting room standards.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
