Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as a Senior Accountant. Responsibilities include maintaining systems to ensure wire transfers of monies to and from the US Treasury, preparing cash control journals, researching problems with unemployment insurance (UI) benefit payments to claimants, and preparing financial reports required by state and federal regulations. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who has a strong knowledge of state and federal reporting requirements related to US Treasury disbursements and is dedicated to investigating and resolving problems related to bank balances, fund transfers and reimbursements. The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience requesting and coordinating the receipt, deposit and transfer of wire transfer monies and preparing cash control journals and other complex financial reports related to these transfers. Essential Functions

  • Under direction, serves as a Senior Accountant for the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) 
  • Prepares accurate and up-to-date accounting records, timely monthly statements, and other financial reports related to cash management 
  • Performs highly complex professional accounting calculations in determining funding requirement to cover agency expenditures including but not limited to payroll and administrative needs
