Job Description
Position Summary
Lead, motivate, and develop staff members in assigned Quality Inspection Lab. Monitor and improve inspection lab metrics and processes. Inspect and evaluate components to determine if they are compliant to all HydraForce specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following reflects essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. It is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as the company may deem necessary.
- Train, guide, and mentor inspectors
- Monitor and improve inspection metric reports
- Arrange tasks and personnel according to inspection lab needs
- Monitor and assign priority to inspection tasks
- Review inspection reports and determine if material can be accepted or rejected
- Identify, communicate, and improve quality issues in assigned area
- Submit Non-Conformance Material Reports (NCMR) for deviations to inspection process
- Generate Temporary Deviation Request (TDR) to request deviation to inspection process
- Create and edit inspection routers and templates
- Inspect for compliance to standard and record data
- Understand and communicate engineering specifications on control documents
- Calibrate gauge and perform gauge studies
- Communicate inspection results and details with internal team
- Coordinate 7S activities in assigned area
- Comply with all safety and sanitation regulations
- Complete any other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Supervisory Responsibilities
Leads a team of inspectors in the quality inspection lab.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
- Ability to walk/stand for long periods of time
- Lift and move a minimum of 30 pounds without assistance
- Repetitive hand/arm use
Work Environment
- Work time is spent in a warehouse environment where temperatures are often warm or cool, depending upon the season, and noise level can be moderate to high
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Qualifications
- A high school graduate or GED
- 5+ years experience in mechanical inspection and manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to follow inspection processes and plans
- Experience with quality control equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, surface, comparator, roughness gauges, etc.
- Experience with advanced quality control equipment such as: Hommel, Keyence, Spring tester, Hardness tester, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Optical comparator preferred
- Proficient with MS Windows and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Experience with GD&T technical specifications, Work Instructions, and drawings
- The ability to see details at close range
- Ability to train as per the documented process
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Exhibit ethical independence and quality focused judgment of the parts and process
- Clear communication and effective interaction with other departments and suppliers
