Job Summary:

Partners with leadership to develop, and manage the Healthcare Simulation Center, supporting clinical education, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives across a network of multiple acute care hospitals. Ensures high-quality, evidence-based simulation education to enhance clinical competencies and improve patient outcomes in pursuit of Magnet hospital designation. Coordinates simulation development, operations management and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or related combination of experience and education: Required
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Education, or a related field: Preferred
  • Five years experience in healthcare simulation, clinical education, or patient safety: Preferred
  • Experience in an acute care hospital setting with knowledge of Magnet designation requirements: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Nursing license in state of practice: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS or CPR) certification: Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS or ALS) certification: Required
  • Certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS): Preferred
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Healthstream Basic Life Support (HS-BLS) or RQIBLS or Heartsaver CPR (CPR): Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream Advanced Cardiac Life Support (HS-ACLS) or RQIACLS: Required

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in developing policies, procedures, and best practices for simulation-based training. Leads the design, execution, and evaluation of high-fidelity simulation scenarios, standardized patient programs, and clinical skills training to support multidisciplinary teams. Collaborates with leadership on day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with clinical and organizational goals.
  • Assists with design and oversight of the simulation-based education curriculum, incorporating best practices, adult learning principles, and competency-based assessments. Collaborates with clinical educators, nurse leaders, and department heads to integrate simulation training into hospital-wide professional development initiatives. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards (e.g., ANCC, Magnet, Joint Commission) in all simulation-based education programs. Leads faculty development efforts, training instructors in simulation methodologies, debriefing techniques, and educational technology.
  • Assists with the financial planning, budgeting, and allocation of resources for the Healthcare Simulation Center, ensuring cost-effective operations. Advises on expenditures, manages vendor contracts, and oversees procurement of simulation equipment, supplies, and technology. Ensures proper maintenance, functionality, and calibration of simulation technology, including high-fidelity manikins, audiovisual systems, and virtual reality tools. Directs logistics for multi-site simulation activities, ensuring efficient scheduling, staffing, and use of simulation resources.
  • Leads data collection, analysis, and reporting to evaluate the effectiveness of simulation programs and their impact on clinical practice and patient outcomes. Collaborates with hospital leadership, quality improvement teams, and Magnet coordinators to align simulation training with evidence-based practice initiatives. Serves as a subject matter expert in simulation-based research, developing scholarly projects, securing grants, and presenting findings at professional conferences. Establishes partnerships with academic institutions, professional organizations, and industry leaders to advance innovation in healthcare simulation.
