Capital One’s Treasury team is seeking a highly motivated, talented, and collaborative professional to join our group as a Senior Associate. As a member of the Treasury Accounting team, you should feel confident owning the accounting process end-to-end and accounting principals.

As a Senior Associate, you will assist with the automation, analytics and driving efficiencies within the Controllers value stream. You will leverage your Finance and Accounting background and apply your strategic and analytical skills to address major Controllers challenges. You will do it all in a collaborative environment that values your insights, encourages you to take on new responsibilities, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation. We leverage tools such as Python and SQL to drive efficiencies in day to day processes. We proactively communicate with our partners and leadership, and help shape priorities by analyzing data, gathering metrics, identifying pain points and rationalizing business processes.

Role Responsibilities:

• Manage monthly close activities related to derivatives activities and present month-end results to management 

• Identify  and drive opportunities to centralize, eliminate, automate or outsource activities

• Perform ad-hoc business analysis on portfolios to identify variances / trends to communicate to management and business partner team(s)

• Partner with Capital Markets teams  to develop and assess overall hedging strategies

• Perform technical research on treasury accounting issues and prepare write-ups; draft and/or review treasury-related information in the 10-K, 10-Q, earnings release and other regulatory filings for accuracy. Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SEC regulations and other regulatory guidance

• Partner with project management and business partner teams, to design and implement new business products, program initiatives, system upgrades and process improvements 

• Support coordination of internal audit review and SOX compliance

• Ad-hoc requests and special projects

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience

• At least 2 years of experience in accounting, OR finance, OR a combination

 Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in accounting

• 2+ years of experience in financial services

• 1+ year of experience analyzing data with Python, or SQL, or Tableau, or a combination

• 1+ year of experience with Oracle PeopleSoft Financials, or SAP, or Workday Financials or a combination

• 1+ year of experience working with SimCorp in an accounting capacity 

• Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master’s Degree in Accounting

• Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $94,600 - $107,900 for Sr. Associate, Accounting

 

Richmond, VA: $86,000 - $98,200 for Sr. Associate, Accounting

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
