Senior Backend Engineer

<ul> <li>You’ll join the <strong>founding and experienced Engineering team</strong> of an exciting new data startup, with funding in place, and validated customer demand.</li> <li>You will have the opportunity to set up <strong>core end-to-end data services</strong>, building on a combination of internal models and external services. This will support both rapid experimentation and production integration with Software Engineering, Data Engineering and Business Intelligence services.</li> <li>You’ll work on our product development <strong>from Prototyping phase to General Availability</strong>, alongside our Apps Software Engineering teams.</li> <li>You will ensure efficient functioning of <strong>data storage</strong> and process functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in <strong>cloud security</strong>.</li> <li>You’ll identify, analyse, and resolve <strong>infrastructure vulnerabilities</strong> and <strong>application deployment</strong> issues.</li> <li>You will be working with financial and accounting data from source through to the <strong>myriad applications of the data</strong>.</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>Being based and <strong>authorised to work in Portugal</strong> (remote work with flexible co-working from Porto).</li> <li> <strong>Hands-on experience</strong> in software engineering, with experience building out complex data services along with the infrastructure they require.</li> <li>Experience with <strong>data oriented software development</strong>, including a firm grasp of modern development practices.</li> <li>Experience in <strong>deploying production-standard code</strong> (including Python and SQL on cloud).</li> <li>Experience with <strong>Cloud services</strong> (e.g. GCP - Apache, Beam, Vertex, Spanner, event-driven architectures, pub-sub).</li> <li>Experience with some of the following <strong>DevOps tools</strong>: BQ, pubsub, k8s, heroku or similar and terraform.</li> <li>Experience with <strong>managing, versioning and deploying production ML models</strong>.</li> <li>Knowledge of <strong>Cloud Security</strong> best practices.</li> <li>Experience in <strong>integrating applications</strong> and transferring data.</li> <li>Experience being part of a <strong>high-growth startup or tech company.</strong> </li> <li> <strong>Recognised by your colleagues</strong> as being excellent at your job and someone that people want to work with.</li> <li> <strong>Curious</strong> and <strong>passionate</strong> about your work.</li> <li>Clear <strong>communication</strong> (in <strong>English</strong>) and ability to work well with others in a distributed team.</li> </ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><ul> <li>Salary: Up to €100k p.a. + option package.</li> <li>Holidays: 23 days p.a. + the days between Christmas &amp; New Year + Public Holidays.</li> <li>Location: Based and autorised to work in Portugal (we are NOT sponsoring visas atm)</li> </ul>
