4H Youth Development Ag In the Classroom Educator - Warsaw, NY

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wyoming County has an opening for a full-time 4-H Youth Development Ag In the Classroom Educator working from the Warsaw NY office.

The Educator will serve as a member of the 4-H Youth Development team to assist with planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of Agriculture in the Classroom educational programs and activities. These programs and activities may include Dairy in the Classroom, Farm to School, Central School District Agriculture in the Classroom, and Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics (STEAM) programming. The Educator will be responsible for promoting program objectives, coordinating educational plans, and implementing related learning sessions.

    

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 
•    Master’s degree with experience relevant to the role of the position. Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years transferrable, relevant, evidence-based research experience may substitute.
•    Experience teaching children in a K-12, informal education, or camp setting.
•    Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
•    Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
•    Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.
•    Experience with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
•    Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisors, other educators, community, and professional leaders.
•    Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, timely, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods. 
•    Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of integrity, accuracy, organization, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential, sensitive information.
•    Demonstrated ability to coordinate in-classroom work schedules with fellow Central School District educators, co-coordinate advisory group, and effectively prioritize multiple tasks, deadlines, and program requirements. 
•    Ability to align educational programming with the needs of collaborators and grant objectives. 
•    Ability to present effective and relevant educational lessons to target audiences in group settings.
•    Ability to effectively participate in professional team efforts.
•    Ability to work in a typical office environment which may include lifting, moving, and/or transporting office supplies, work related materials, and equipment with or without accommodation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
•    Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in Spanish.
•    Experience with Cooperative Extension or other similar educational organizations.
•    Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline. 
•    Experience guiding and collaborating with educators, home-school groups, and volunteers.
•    Experience teaching children in a formal education setting. 
•    Experience working for or participating in 4-H programs. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program Development - 15%
•    Assist Supervisor and Executive Director with development of 4-H Youth Development educational programs STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), Farm to School, and Agriculture in the Classroom School Programming to meet identified needs and diverse interests of school-age youth.
•    Assist Supervisor and Executive Director in creation of program materials and engagement of advisory committees to address identified needs.
•    Assist Supervisor in structuring programs to meet the needs of identified program participants.

Program Delivery - 60%
•    Deliver high quality Agriculture in the Classroom educational programs and afterschool programs that address local, regional, and statewide priorities.
•    Provide educational programs to students in traditional classroom settings at local public and private schools as well as in non-traditional settings, such as home-school groups and summer recreation programs.
•    Assist in delivering innovative/creative educational programs to impact audiences through a variety of delivery methods, with support from supervisor.
•    Utilize a variety of educational methods which may include direct teaching, group experiences, media, newsletters, electronic technology, internet, and distance learning to deliver programs.
