Position Summary

The Operations & Facilities Management Department at Washington University School of Medicine is committed to delivering a comprehensive range of services to support the medical campus.

We oversee maintenance and operations for 65 buildings, covering more than 11.1 million gross square feet of space. This includes the 11-story, 609,000-square-foot neuroscience research building, which houses one of the world’s highest concentrations of neuroscientists. Our responsibilities include operational and administrative support, strategic planning, and project management.

Furthermore, as the School of Medicine continues to expand its presence both on and off campus in areas such as teaching, clinical care, and research, our team remains instrumental in ensuring the seamless delivery of clinical care, advancing research initiatives, and facilitating educational endeavors.

This position provides customer service during the 2nd shift to students and residents of on-campus housing located at the Core Residence. The Customer Service Clerk answers phone inquiries, has basic computer skills, and is warm, helpful, pleasant, and responsive to guests, neighbors, and residents, which are critical aspects of the job. This position also performs various tasks to maintain a safe and healthy facility.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves in a supporting role for building, grounds, and apartment unit needs, including, but not limited to, maintenance requests, lock-out and security needs, and other issues as they arise.
  • Provides customer service for students and residents in the main lobby of Core Housing by maintaining a friendly and alert presence and assisting with accurate information and directions.
  • Supports after-hours short stay, and hoteling check-ins.
  • Monitors the phone and CCTV system, answering all calls quickly and courteously. If an emergency occurs, contacts Protective Service immediately.
  • Maintains building cleanliness according to established facility standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • The typical shift is 4 p.m. - 12 a.m., Monday - Friday.

  • Typically sitting at a desk or table.
  • Repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement.
  • Occasional lifting (25 lbs. or less).
