Job Location The Standard Spa, Miami Beach - MIAMI BEACH, FLPosition Type Full TimeDescription
Who We Are:
At The Standard, Miami Beach, we’re anything but standard. Our spa-hotel playground blends laid-back luxury with Miami energy, where guests come to sweat, soak, and socialize. None of that magic works, though, without the behind-the-scenes brilliance of our Engineering team
The Role:
We’re on the lookout for a skilled Engineer who loves solving problems before they even happen. From HVAC to hot tubs, guestroom fixes to pool maintenance, you’ll be the one making sure every part of our property is safe, functional, and ready to wow our guests.
What You’ll Do:
-
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance across the property—guestrooms, public areas, spa facilities, pools, and back-of-house.
-
Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
-
Maintain spa-specific equipment (saunas, steam rooms, hydrotherapy pools) to top safety and hygiene standards.
-
Respond quickly to guest and team maintenance requests, minimizing downtime and maximizing smiles.
-
Assist with energy efficiency programs and the Building Management System (BMS).
-
Keep detailed records of work, repairs, and inventory.
-
Ensure compliance with safety, fire, and health regulations—keeping The Standard safe, secure, and operational.
-
Jump into emergency situations (power outage, plumbing leak, HVAC hiccup) with confidence and calm.
-
Partner with outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs.
What We’re Looking For:
-
2 years previous experience as an Engineer, Maintenance Technician, or similar role in a hotel, resort, or spa.
-
Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
-
Experience with pool/spa maintenance, water chemistry, and filtration (CPO certification = major bonus).
-
Familiarity with OSHA, fire safety, and Miami health regulations.
-
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
-
Great communication—because collaboration keeps everything running smoothly.
-
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays (the hotel never sleeps, and neither do surprises).
Physical Requirements:
-
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
-
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders or stairs for extended periods.
-
Comfortable working in confined spaces, on rooftops, and in varying temperatures or humid environments (such as spa areas, saunas, and boiler rooms).
-
Manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
-
Ability to respond to emergencies quickly and perform tasks requiring physical endurance.
Why You’ll Love It Here:
At The Standard, we’re all about people, creativity, and community. Here, you’ll be part of a team that values individuality, collaboration, and a touch of playfulness in everything we do. We work hard, we support each other, and we create experiences that make a lasting impact—for our guests and for each other. If you’re looking for a place where your work matters and the culture feels like family, this is it.
