Role Description
Form Energy is looking to hire a skilled, entrepreneurial, and collaborative Field Service Technician to service Form’s first commercial-scale battery deployments. You will be responsible for conducting preventative and corrective maintenance of installed battery systems across the US, including California, the Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic regions. Daily activities include battery system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance services for various electrical and mechanical components. This role will collaborate closely with troubleshooting specialists and Form’s operations and engineering teams to ensure timely and efficient resolution of field issues.
What you'll do:
Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on all battery and associated installed equipment
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls problems including inverter faults, ground faults, network faults, and general site performance issues
Complete work orders, time logs, and maintenance reports
Maintain company tools, vehicles, equipment, and instrumentation and a safe work environment
Support software and firmware upgrades
Work closely with Form’s engineering and reliability teams to respond to open case questions and provide data where required
Travel to client or project sites to conduct service work up to 90% of the time
What you'll bring:
4-5 years of hands-on experience in utility-scale storage maintenance or operations
Experience with troubleshooting hardware and software issues on battery systems
Strong attention to detail, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
Working knowledge of electrical components and instruments such as power electronics, multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar equipment
Ability to read schematic, wiring, and engineering drawings
Strong safety background with experience in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
Ability to work on weekends and holidays, including being “on call” via phone or text
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and knowledge of how to properly terminate wire, torque bolts, and interface with mechanical systems consisting of pumps, tanks, and piping
Valid driver’s license
