The Director of Strategic Planning and Analysis provides direct, high-level support to the Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Student Health and Wellbeing, partnering with Cornell Health senior leadership in the strategic direction of the organization. This position researches topics relevant to student health and wellbeing, identifies ways Cornell can gather and analyze data more effectively, and uses key findings to make recommendations for quality improvement. As a critically important partner in creating a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging at Cornell Health, they use data to identify disparities, research strategies to address them, and make recommendations to the senior leadership team. The director develops, implements, and analyzes custom surveys and program evaluations and presents key findings to campus stakeholders. In addition, this role leads Cornell Health’s quality improvement initiatives to align with accreditation standards.
Success Factors
- Operates with a high level of independence, leading research, data analysis, evaluation, and assessment efforts for Cornell Health.
- Exhibits strong analytical skills to determine the root cause of organizational problems, making recommendations to resolve issues and monitor progress over time. Excellent ability to provide analytical guidance to internal and external audiences on a diverse set of situations.
- Conducts the work environment with tact and strong professional judgment, navigating a complex campus community and grounding decision-making in a principled and systems-based approach.

- Leads by example, fostering strong working relationships with Cornell Health staff, campus stakeholders, and community partners, collaborating with colleagues at all levels.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with five to seven years of relevant work experience in strategic planning and data analysis, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of the health and wellbeing needs of a university population.
- Demonstrated skill in analyzing data, sharing results with diverse constituencies, and making recommendations for future improvement.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to be a positive contributor to and leader of a team-based interprofessional environment with an innovative, improvement-oriented culture.
- Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing. Demonstrated skill in understanding of cultural differences.
- Expertise with PC based computers, Microsoft Office, SPSS, and comfort with health information systems.
