The Transmission Planning Analysis Engineer will be responsible for conducting studies in connection with the 34.5 kV, 69 kV, 138 kV, 230 kV and 345 kV transmission system to ensure the operational reliability, adequacy, and security based on FERC 715. This work includes analysis of and studies for power flow, dynamic-stability, transient-stability, and voltage-stability.
Job Responsibilities
Annual NERC TPL-001 Transmission System Planning Performance Assessment using steady-state, short-circuit, and dynamics power systems techniques utilizing a software suite of TARA, PSS®E, ASPEN, and DSA Tools as governed by FERC 715.
Annual NERC CIP-014 Physical Security assessment modeling realistic and historical physical attacks on transmission equipment to determine if said physical attack could result in instability, uncontrolled separation, or Cascading within an electrical Interconnection utilizing a software suite of TARA, PSS®E, and DSA Tools.
As requested NERC FAC-002 qualified changes and material modification impact studies to determine if any new or materially modified load (including Large Loads and Data Centers), any new or materially modified generation, or any new or materially modified transmission results in an inability of the Transmission System to meet the performance requirements of FERC 715 using as applicable steady-state, short-circuit, and dynamic power systems techniques utilizing a software suite of TARA, PSS®E, ASPEN, and DSA Tools as governed by FERC 715.
Evaluate the optimization of the Transmission System and proposed Transmission plans to reduce overall investment driving downward pressure on electric rates utilizing traditional and all new relevant and upcoming technologies such as GETs.
Participate in stakeholder meetings of, Plan projects within, and Evaluate MISO’s regional Transmission Planning process, the MISO Expansion Transmission Plan (MTEP) to ensure effective, efficient, and thorough evaluation of Transmission Projects ensuring just and reasonable Transmission scope using steady-s
