TK Health is hiring a full-time medical records clerk for our Benton County facility in Bentonville, AR. TK Health is a correctional healthcare provider with a regional focus on our clinics in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas Jails and Detention Centers. Our team oversees the day-to-day healthcare operations in facilities with inmate populations ranging from 25 to nearly 2,800 inmates. Our medical staff are afforded the opportunity to utilize their medical skills to their fullest capacity in a safe, secure, and unconventional environment.
Summary/Objective
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for assembling patient information into patients’ medical charts/records in an accurate and complete manner in accordance with TK Health policies and procedures, accreditation standards and applicable state/federal regulations.
Essential Functions
1. Assembles patients’ health information including patient medical history, exam results, X‐ray reports, lab tests, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
2. Maintains paper/electronic health records (EHR) databases, verifies accuracy and accessibility of files, and ensures files are secure.
3. Reviews records to ensure all forms are completed, properly identified, and signed and that all necessary information is in the manual and/or computer file in preferred style such as chronological.
4. Process and forward record requests, and releases information to persons and agencies according to federal/state regulations, TK Health policies/procedures, and accreditation standards. Follows up on outstanding record request in a timely fashion.
5. Submits files/documentation to physicians and other clinicians as requested for review, quality assurance checks, and other purposes.
6. Attend meetings or conferences assigned and reports on major points and actions resolved or to be taken.
7. Handles a variety of matters involving contact with facility and medical staff, committees, government agencies, and the public.
8. Composes correspondence and disseminates to appropriate individuals. Answers phones, questions and requests.
9. Prepares various documents and handles confidential matters in accordance with Turn Key Health policies and procedures.
10. Ensures equipment operation, calls for repairs, maintains equipment inventories, and evaluates new equipment and techniques.
11. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports assigned.
12. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Physical Requirements
1. Prolonged stationary periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. May require prolonged periods of standing, moving, ascending/descending stairs, and bending.
3. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
4. Must be able to push a medical cart of at least 50 pounds at times.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
1. High School diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
2. Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS).
