Business Analyst

GENERAL PURPOSE

Design and define systems and processes to meet business partner requirements for both projects and daily operations, under the supervision of a Work Team Leader. Utilize technical expertise to create and implement solutions that address current business needs within the financial functional area. Manage priorities effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Establish a positive working relationship within IT and across other functional areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Acts as liaison to multiple business units, representing their needs for functionality and system enhancements that impact business operations.
  • Applies technical expertise to define, design, and implement solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Analyzes and documents current and future state processes in accordance with project scope.
  • Prepares user stories, functional specifications, technical designs, acceptance criteria, and validation scenarios for system enhancements.
  • Maps current and revised/new technical architecture; obtains necessary approvals and signoffs.
  • Designs and develops technical specifications, including defining unit testing criteria.
  • Reviews project implementation strategies with business partners to ensure alignment.
  • Assesses business and technical impacts, identifies contingency plans, and develops data conversion specifications.
  • Supports software development activities and facilitates integrated and functional testing.
  • Collaborates with business stakeholders to document business processes and develop training materials.
  • Maintains the user acceptance test (UAT) environment, manages data requirements, and coordinates refresh schedules with infrastructure teams.
  • Monitors UAT progress, logs issues, and collaborates with the development team to resolve defects.
  • Prepares and coordinates cutover plans and implementation schedules in partnership with the infrastructure team.
  • Supports cutover activities and provides post-go-live hyper-care for system changes.
  • Manages data conversion and validation, supports training in an advisory role, and ensures completion of all required project documentation, including performance tracking.
  • Develop software selection criteria and lead the software evaluation and selection process.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline — or equivalent experience typically acquired through a minimum of five years in an IT environment.

Minimum five years of professional experience in systems-related roles, with a strong understanding of hardware, software technologies, and development methodologies.

1-3 years of prior participation on project teams

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Broad understanding of business processes, information flow and related enterprise systems.
  • Ability to evaluate opportunities and solutions from a strategic, long-term perspective
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaborate within teams, and lead small to medium-sized projects
  • Proficient in writing SQL queries with a solid understanding of database structures and relationships to support data analysis and reporting
  • Experienced in Agile software development methodologies, actively participating in Scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives) to drive continuous improvement and high-quality delivery.
  • Proven track record of success in projects of varying scale, including requirements gathering, solution testing, and documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Functional knowledge of Infor ERP (LN), JD Edwards, or Oracle EBS is a plus.
