Position Information

  • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment. 
  • This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. (Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends and travel to away games)
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary

The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University.  Currently, there are 18 sport programs, approximately 550 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department.  The offices include the following: The Aztec Club, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Corporate Sales, Development, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.

Education and Experience

Basic knowledge of and skill in graphics, still or motion photography, or television production.  This knowledge and skill normally is obtained through a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least six months of experience in still and motion picture photography, including a thorough knowledge of video production techniques.

Key Qualifications

  • Editing experience with DragonFly, DVSport, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere.  
  • Must have an above average skill level with video cameras and camera equipment as well as servers and networking knowledge.
  • Six years of experience in still and motion picture photography, including a thorough knowledge of video production techniques, is preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends and travel to away games.  
  • Ability and skills to train temporary video assistants.  
  • Experience in operating scissor lifts that extend up to 40 feet. 
  • Experience with video cameras.  
  • Strong knowledge of the game of football and basic knowledge of lacrosse.  
  • Willing to travel off campus for coaches and players’ meetings.  
  • Ability to work in extremely high-pressure situations in substandard weather conditions for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to move and/or transport equipment weighing up to 100 pounds is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications Required

  • Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.

Compensation:
 Salary is based on your experience, education, and qualifications, within the department’s budget and equity guidelines.

  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,680 - $6,584/month; hiring salary not expected to exce
