Job Description
AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Project Designer with extensive aviation experience to join our practice and help grow our Aviation market sector. We’re looking for a team leader who is client-facing and is experienced in project management with design & technical excellence. The successful candidate is driven by a passion for identifying project opportunities and delivering quality work. This role is focused on growing our successful aviation architecture practice.
As a Senior Project Designer with recognized technical expertise and experience in demanding, design driven projects, you will lead interdisciplinary teams. Leveraging your industry experience and technical acumen, you will drive a wide range of aviation projects including terminal renovations, hold room design, security checkpoint improvements, and airside facilities, through all phases of design, documentation, and construction.
The successful candidate will be a designer who approaches aviation architecture with a passion, who works well with clients and stakeholders, and who understands the requirements of CBP, TSA, airlines and Terminal Managers.
What you will do:
- In partnership with the Project Director and Project Manager, you will lead a team, or multiple teams, in the design and technical documentation and delivery of a wide range of projects
- Support the pursuit of excellence in new aviation projects
- Develop solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems
- Oversee and mentor the development of more junior designers and architects
- Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture plus a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Five (5) years of direct, Architectural process involvement in aviation projects
- Licensed Architect and NCARB Certified
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (BArch) or Bachelor of Science in Architecture + Master’s degree in Architecture w
- Ten (10) years of relevant experience in Architectural design, resolving technical issues, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Professional experience using Revit and BIM as well as experience in Photoshop, Microsoft Office, InDesign, and software such as Rhino, SketchUp, or other visualization tools
- Experience with principles of Lean Design and Construction a plus
- Solid knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures pertinent to aviation projects
- Affinity with developing details and experience in construction documents
- Ability to lead integrated design teams of varying sizes to accomplish project delivery from concept through construction do
