Job Description
IHI Power Services Corp. (IPSC) has a career opportunity as a Maintenance Electrician at our Ravenswood Power Plant in Long Island City, NY. The salary rate for this role is $52.96 per hour. The Maintenance Electrician position will report to the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor.
Job Summary
The maintenance electrician is responsible for all electrical maintenance activities at the station. Electricians will perform, assist, and/or coordinate all low, medium, and high-voltage electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation assistance activities. They will also be involved in planning electrical maintenance tasks and projects.
This position supports a power-generating station that operates 365 days per year. In addition to the regular shift, the role would be required to support off-hours, weekends, nights, and holidays when needed. The successful candidate will be expected to report to work in all weather conditions without question.

Job Functions
Performs a variety of complex technical service/support duties requiring specialized knowledge.
• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain all plant electrical equipment as required to support plant operation.
• Assist in maintaining drawing files, vendor files and the equipment maintenance record.
• Utilize computerized maintenance management system – Maximo
• Perform the tasks of opening, closing, racking, resetting, and routine maintenance on breakers and switch gear up to 345 kV.
• Provide direction and oversight to temporarily assigned personnel (including subcontractor personnel on matters pertaining to plant operations and maintenance).
• Conduct trouble shooting and analysis on electrical equipment.
• Maintain assigned working locations in a neat and orderly condition.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
• High School diploma or GED and 5 years’ industrial electrician experience including experience working with DC voltages from 48V to 125V, and AC voltages from 120V to 345KV
• Experience with operating aerial lifts
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
• Must possess basic math skills, good verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with the use of hand and power tools and test instruments applicable to the electrician’s trade.
• Demonstrate arc flash hazard awareness, follow the company electrical safety policy, NFPA 70E
• Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in operating and maintaining power plant equipment and machinery.
• Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
• Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
• Basic data entry/computer skills.
• Work as a team—We must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all of the business challenges.
• Knowledge and experience of the power plant environment
• Ability to apply creative solutions to unique electrical problems
• Knowledge of AC/DC Circuits, Machines, Electrical theory, and components.
• Correctly interpret complex detailed electrical and electronic drawings and prints.
• Ability to stay current with changing technologies
• Experienced in conduit and cable installation, wiring and termination techniques
