Part-Time Recreation Specialist

THIS JOB IS ASSIGNED TO THE OSCAR JOHNSON JR. ENRICHMENT & RECREATION CENTER

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for program development, implementation, marketing, sponsorship solicitation, interpretation and enforcement of policies and regulations. Supervisory responsibilities include all aspects of program operations and fiscal accountability, assisting with budget preparation and implementation. Record program participation, revenue, and expense for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Minimum 30 hours of continuing education; preferably recreation, education, or human services required. Minimum 2 years of experience planning and implementing recreational activities, one year as a supervisor required.

Special Requirements:

Minimum 21 years of age. Current certification in First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); or be able to obtain within 30 days of employment required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of programming concepts is essential to carry out the required duties.
• Skill in public program/event delivery, staff/ volunteer supervision and cash handling.
• Skill in ingenuity and independent thinking.
• Ability to exhibit excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact directly with the public using good communication skills is expected.
• Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate designated programs and events.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is medium requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, fingering, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, reaching, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.
