About the role

Description

The Department of Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry (http://mbb.yale.edu/) at Yale University invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty appointment. This opportunity is available at all ranks, including Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels. The research area focuses on Computational Biophysics and Biochemistry, exploring the intricate molecular and cellular processes and the complex interactions of their macromolecular components. Priority will be given, though not exclusively, to areas outlined in the University-wide Science Strategic Plan (https://president.yale.edu/university-initiatives/science-and-engineering) and Yale School of Medicine Research Strategic Planning (https://medicine.yale.edu/research/strategic-planning/#focused-areas-of-research).

The Department, which is administered both by the Yale Faculty of Arts & Sciences and the Yale School of Medicine, defines biochemistry and biophysics to mean the study of the molecules and mechanisms of life. Current research areas broadly include biopolymer structure and function, RNA biology, cytoskeleton and membrane biology, DNA replication and repair, genomics, host-virus interactions, protein translation, and molecular neuroscience, among other topics. The Department employs a range of approaches including biochemical, biophysical, structural (X-ray and cryo-EM), genetic, cell biological, and computational.

The successful candidate is expected to establish a vibrant research group, be an interactive member of the MB&B community, and be committed to excellence in teaching in areas related to molecular biophysics or biochemistry for undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. The Department is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, service, and interactions with other departments featuring computational methods, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Review of applications will begin on March 31, 2025 and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2026.
