Job Summary

The Respiratory Care Practitioner II (Advanced) has accountability and responsibility for the coordination and management of care of a designated group of patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Has a solid foundation and experience with meeting to the clinical practice and assessment needs of the acute and critical care patient population.

Pay Range

Minimum $39.49 Midpoint $52.33 Maximum $65.16

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

Required: One (1) year of clinical experience as a respiratory care practitioner.

Preferred: Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience in acute respiratory care.

Education

Required: Graduate of an accredited two (2) year Respiratory Therapy Program.

Preferred: Associate or Bachelor of Science/Arts degree.

Training

Required: Successful completion of an acute care and PFT training and competency.

Specialized Skills

Required: Knowledge of and ability to provide appropriate patient care depending upon age specific, cultural diversity, and spiritual needs. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a time efficient and organized manner. Ability to work collaboratively and in coordination with others. Ability to complete accurate documentation in the patient EMR. Ability to perform work according to CHOC’s policies and procedures, professional standards of care, and applicable laws. Ability to set goals and review results in accordance with the highest standards of excellence. Ability to deliver care with sensitivity and respect and advance practice through development of new ideas and technology. Ability to promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission and exceed customer expectations.

Licensure

Required: Basic Life Support (BLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); Respiratory Care Practitioner – CA (RCP); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Preferred: Reg Pulmonary Function Tech.

Work Environments - Functional Demand:

Medium - High energy level Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs. (Patients on bed, stretcher) Lateral transfer 150-200 lbs. (ie. Patient) .
