University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Adult Psychiatry Unit (7RC) to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager. 

 

Adult Psychiatry Unit:

7RC is 25-bed adult inpatient unit dedicated to adult psychiatric patients. We will utilize an evidence based, patient-centered, interdisciplinary approach, with contributions from physicians, psychologists, advance practice providers, master level therapists, nurses, social workers, dieticians, occupational and recreational therapists, all striving to work collaboratively with patients and families to provide the best possible care. Evidence based therapeutic modalities utilized on the unit will include dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma informed care. 

Percent of Time: 100%

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Day Shifts, Monday-Friday, on call as needed to meet unit needs

Qualifications

 

Education Required

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.           
     

Experience Required

  • 1+ years of nursing experience with demonstrated skills in leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer software applications (such as Microsoft programs)
  • Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments.
  • Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
     

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working in large academic medical center
  • Experience working in a union environment
