Work you'll do:

As a Cyber Range Engineer, you are responsible for designing, building, testing and maintaining cyber ranges, which are secure, simulated environments used for training, testing, and developing cybersecurity skills that replicate real-world networks, systems, and applications to provide hands-on experience in a safe environment.

  • Develop cybersecurity simulation scenarios in support of a variety of DCWF-aligned applications
  • Create and implement realistic attack and defense scenarios for training and evaluation purposes
  • Support the development and maintenance of virtual machines, databases and inject scripts for various models and highly detailed cyber scenarios
  • Consult, design, program and implement templates, tools and processes to allow for rapid development of models using current and emerging development technologies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with the cyber range infrastructure and content
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and optimize delivery

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Active Secret security clearance required
  • 5+ years of cybersecurity experience with emphasis on range development
  • 3+ years of experience performing cyber training using skillable
  • 5+ years in one of the following experience:
    • Networking concepts including OSI layers, firewalls, VLANs and VPNs
    • Security tools like SIEM, proxies, AV, EDR and forensics
    • Python scripting for automation
    • Windows and Linux command lines, networking, traffic analysis and MITRE ATT&CK matrix Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs)
    • Virtualization software and enumeration. VMware VSphere, VMware ESXI or similar products
    • Understanding of possible attack activities such as network probing/scanning, DDDOS, malicious code activity etc.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $93,225 to $155,375.
