What You'll Do:

Blackpoint Cyber is seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Data Platform to spearhead the development of an end-to-end data platform that drives our data-centric cybersecurity solutions. This role demands a deep engineering background with hands-on experience in building and scaling production-level systems. The ideal candidate will excel in leading teams to deliver high-quality data products and will provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to ensure seamless integration into ongoing projects.

As Director, you will be responsible for architecting, building, and scaling our data platform to meet the needs of our rapidly expanding suite of cybersecurity offerings. Your ability to quickly adapt to new products and environments, motivate your team, and deliver exceptional outcomes will be pivotal. You will play a critical role in shaping our data strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring the platform's integrity, scalability, and performance. Additionally, you will maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring that our platform aligns with business objectives and delivers value effectively.

Responsibilities:

Lead the development of a comprehensive data platform that drives the Blackpoint Cyber suite of products, encompassing score construction, cataloging, and search operations. Ensure the platform is scalable, reliable, and fully aligned with business objectives.

Define and implement best practices in data architecture, data modeling, and data governance. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in data engineering and data science to ensure the platform remains cutting-edge.

Build strong relationships with internal customers, partners, and stakeholders. Work closely with Product, Engineering, and other departments to ensure the data platform meets business requirements. Influence cross-functional initiatives related to data tools, governance, and cross-domain data sharing.

Guide your teams in defining the product roadmap, designing optimal data platforms, and building product solutions. Influence and define the long-term vision, mission, and data strategies. Ensure technical designs are thoroughly evaluated and aligned with business objectives.

Manage and mentor a team of engineers and data scientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Recruit top talent, provide career development opportunities, and ensure the delivery of high-quality data products.

Partner with external vendors to address performance issues, system deficiencies, technical challenges, and new feature development. Manage contract negotiations and renewals to ensure the best outcomes for the company.

Requirements:

10+ years of experience in software development, with 3+ years of people management experience, demonstrating success in building, growing, and managing multiple teams and managers.

Extensive hands-on experience in architecting and building complex data platforms and products. In-depth knowledge of cloud-based services and data tools such as GCP, AWS, Snowflake, with expertise in data ingestion, normalization, and modeling.

Strong experience in building production-level systems, deploying models at scale, and utilizing data pipeline orchestration and visualization tools.
