Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support assembly operations for Boeing Nacelle systems. In this role you will optimize the performance of a wide range of tasks to facilitate assembly operations, production, and business unit objectives. This will include designing, tooling modifications, sequencing of operations, corrective action and making sure that mandatory modifications are incorporated to improve efficiency and ensure configuration compliance. 

What YOU will do

  • You will devise, design and implement advanced solutions supporting quality, costs, digital / smart factory, production and business unit objectives.
  • You will provide support for technical problems, including safety and ergonomics, with minimal supervision and provide guidance to associate engineers.
  • You will participate in tool design reviews to ensure tools are feasible and reduce build times and program costs during fabrication.
  • You will work with business unit management, cell leaders, and shop personnel to develop and improve processes, cost reduction and COPQ improvement targets.
  • You will drive problem solving initiatives & challenge status QUO (C/A Investigations, OEE, FPY, Customer escapes).
  • You will own creation and maintain manufacturing process documents (routings, BOM, Visual aids, Std work, etc.).
  • You will travel domestic or international up to 10%.


What YOU will learn

  • You will learn how to use data analytics / SPC for productivity, First Pass Yield and OEE targets and improvement.
  • You will identify opportunities on drawings and specs to influence changes to engineering designs and line balancing.
  • You will improve manufacturing processes and products to achieve producibility working with design engineer.
  • You will analyze operations information and make changes to procedures as needed to solve problems and improve efficiency.

Education & Experience

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

  • Experience with SAP or other ERP system.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma, Red X).
  • Knowledge of aluminum, steels, nickel base alloys, titanium, composites, fiberglass and adhesives
  • Ability to read and interpret Specifications and Engineering Drawings
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to problems involving quality, on-time delivery, manufacturing costs, etc.
