Voices is a public charter school network with a mission to prepare all students for the challenges of higher education through the context of an academically rigorous dual-immersion program. Every student, regardless of home language, graduates bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.

Role Summary

The Vice Principal supports the Principal in leading the daily operations of the school, with a specific focus on student services and instructional improvement. This role is responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous school environment by overseeing student support systems, managing behavioral and attendance interventions, and coaching teachers to improve instruction and student outcomes

Key Responsibilities

1. Student Services Management

Oversee and lead all student support services, including counseling, behavior intervention, social-emotional learning (SEL), and special education coordination (in collaboration with the Special Education Director or Coordinator).
Work collaboratively with the Dean of Culture to monitor student discipline; ensure equitable application of the school’s behavior policies and restorative practices.
Coordinate student interventions (MTSS, RTI) and serve as the administrative lead on the Student Support Team (SST).
Supervise and support school counselors, education specialists, and Special Education Instructional Aides, as applicable.
Analyze and respond to data related to academics, behavior, suspensions, chronic absenteeism, and student referrals.
Collaborate with families and community partners to support student well-being, crisis intervention, and wraparound services.
Work collaboratively with the Director of Special Education to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district regulations related to student services.

2. Instructional Coaching & Leadership

Serve as a lead instructional coach; observe classrooms regularly and provide actionable feedback to teachers aligned to the school’s instructional framework.
Plan and deliver high-quality professional development that addresses instructional best practices, data-driven instruction, differentiation, and classroom management.
Support new teacher induction and mentoring programs; facilitate instructional rounds and peer learning opportunities.
Use data (formative, summative, benchmark, and observation) to guide coaching priorities and instructional interventions.
Assist in curriculum implementation and support alignment with state standards.
Promote a culture of continuous learning and high expectations for both staff and students.
Work collaboratively with the Director of Dual-Immersion Instructional Leadership on cycles of continuous improvement.

Additional Responsibilities

Serve as acting principal when needed and represent the school in leadership meetings and community events.
Participate in school-wide planning, budgeting, and evaluation processes.
Support student enrollment, orientation, and transition programs.
Contribute to school climate and culture initiatives.
Lead or support extracurricular programs, safety drills, and emergency preparedness.
And other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Education or related field
CA Multiple Subject Clear Credential with Bilingual Authorization (BCLAD/CLAD) required. Preliminary Credential holders are eligible for Voices' Induction program to clear credentials. Out-of-state equivalent credentials accepted. Mandatory enrollment in the next available Induction cycle upon hiring.
Five years of successful teaching experience at an appropriate level
Demonstrated classroom-level achievement results
Skilled in fiscal management
Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision, and values of Voices Academies with a deep commitment to improving the lives of students from low-income communities
Minimum three years working with a similar student and community demographic
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish
Outstanding written, speaking, and organizational skills with experience interacting with a broad range of stakeholders
Commitment to the accelerated educational progress of children
Experience or commitment to public education, social justice, efficacy, and equity
Ability to work well within a team environment, working efficiently, and exercising excellent judgment in making decisions
Works well in a high-pressure environment
