About the role:

As a Software & Automation Engineer you will perform software engineering design and testing to support the Westinghouse nuclear analysis, utility, and related code systems in a regulated software environment. This includes software tasks through all phases of the lifecycle, including setting requirements, defining software and data designs, implementing the designs in code, developing test plans, implementing test plans, and documenting each of these phases.

You will report to the Software Development Manager. This is a hybrid role, located in Cranberry, PA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, modify, and maintain software applications on Linux and Windows platforms
  • Perform software verification and validation
  • Document the work that was performed, observing required engineering procedures
  • Lead code reviews and inspections of work performed by peers
  • Support general Nuclear Fuel Engineering Design code, procedure and methods development and updates
  • Participate in training to obtain qualifications in the Software Engineering areas
  • Develop software project proposals including technical scope descriptions, schedules and cost estimates
  • Develop methodologies to implement advanced technologies into nuclear design software

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related Discipline
  • 1+ years of experience with modern programming languages such as C/C++, Fortran 95/2003, Java, Python, Rust, or C#/.NET
  • Understanding of data modeling approaches
  • Have a mindset for finding, analyzing and solving a variety of software related problems
  • Possess a mindset for working in a regulated business industry following defined processes and procedures
  • Work with mentor and colleagues; give and receive constructive criticism and display questioning attitude
  • Extra Consideration for Candidates with experience in nuclear engineering
  • Experience with front-end development frameworks (Svelte, REACT, PyQt, etc.)
