Director Quality Assurance

Job Description Summary:

Provide leadership and guidance for the business unit level Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with quality systems to protect our animals, our customers, and ultimately build our business. Adherence to these quality systems ensures compliance to all regulatory requirements. Directs and facilitates the training and education of employees with respect to the quality expectations in the Aviagen Quality Management System (QMS).

Job Description:

Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers Establishes raw material standards by studying manufacturing requirements; conferring and negotiating with suppliers; devising testing methods and procedures Establishes in-process product inspection standards by studying processing methods; devising testing methods and procedures Establishes standards for the disposition of finished product by devising evaluation tests, methods, and procedures Establishes rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures Establishes product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs and processing and training methods Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends Completes quality assurance operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results Maintains quality assurance staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees Maintains quality assurance staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies Achieves financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Job Qualifications Proven track record managing QA for a high-quality organization 10+ Years of QA Experience and 5+ years in a people management role Expertise in poultry or processing industry Experience in communicating with users and project managers to understand requirements Experience testing at the UI and API-level Able to effectively motivate team members to set and achieve the corporate and individual goals Ability to effectively communicate goals, schedule, status, issues, and risks to multiple levels both internal and external to the organization ​Technical: Provide direction for hatcheries, farms, customer service, export and laboratory operations to ensure adherence to quality standards. This individual will provide administrative and managerial responsibilities related to the QA function. This includes budgeting/capitalization of the department and providing career development counsel to direct reports and other QA professionals. Provide technical support to leadership regarding process/product improvements including key financial input. Develops and implements an assessment process that accurately measures the execution of the Aviagen QMS. Develop programs and monitoring systems. Collaborates with Procurement and other constituents to ensure outside service/vendor compliance of all Quality Policies. Leadership: Partner across business functions to recruit, mentor, and retain qualified team members. Actively in engage in day to day coaching with team Set appropriate measurable goals to establish performance expectations. Hold team members accountable for results Recognize and reward performance as well as addressing issues and lack of results Exercise prudent fiscal responsibility including administrative and managerial responsibilities related to the QA function.
