JOB TITLE:
Herbarium Assistant

Pay rate or range:
$14/hour
JOB PURPOSE:
Assist with Herbarium improvements and graduate student projects
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
While using proper specimen handling techniques, primary tasks include sorting, filing, barcoding, and imaging herbarium plant specimens, which will help complete digitization and data sharing of the herbarium's specimens to the wider scientific community.
COMPETENCIES:
Bachelor’s degree in-progress or earned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Interest in Herbarium work/ Botany studies.
Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience with herbarium curatorial tasks (e.g., sorting, filing, databasing, imaging) is helpful but not required

Work in the Herbarium could prepare students for college courses or careers in the following fields: Botany, Environment and Natural Resources Management, Wildlife and Fisheries Biology and Management, Biology, Forest Resources, Geology and Earth Sciences, Plant Production and Protection, Plant Sciences, Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management, Reclamation and Restoration Ecology, Soil Science, Zoology and Physiology
