Position Summary:
The Registration Specialist plays a key role in facilitating patient flow from entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. This position is responsible for collecting and verifying financial and demographic information, scheduling appointments, and ensuring a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and direct patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
Schedule appointments and interview patients to obtain necessary medical and insurance information.
Explain departmental and hospital policies, procedures, and charges.
Validate and enter charges into appropriate systems and collect necessary payments.
Answer incoming calls and route them appropriately.
Ensure accurate and complete patient records to support clinical outcomes and reimbursement.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association preferred.
1–2 years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred; ability to learn and retain medical coding required.
Ability to interpret insurance information and knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology preferred.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required.
