POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for developing and executing a unified communication strategy for Voya’s corporate functions, including the HR, Risk, Legal, and Audit organizations, and other areas as needed. This role encompasses both internal and external communications, ensuring a cohesive approach to all messaging. The candidate will support the ongoing strengthening of Voya’s culture, promote a customer-centric mindset, and align communications with the company’s strategic priorities and values.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning: Collaborate with corporate function leaders to develop a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with Voya’s strategic priorities and values. Ensure consistency and alignment with overall corporate messaging.

Integrated Communications: Develop and maintain an integrated communications plan and calendar that supports the corporate functions. Oversee the execution of these plans, ensuring timely and effective delivery of key messages to both internal and external audiences.

Content Creation and Management: Create compelling and clear communication content, including emails, newsletters, intranet posts, presentations, talking points, and scripts/speeches. Ensure accuracy and alignment with Voya’s core values and strategic direction.

Digital Collaboration: Partner with Digital and Operations teams to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment both across the organization and outside the organization. Serve as a trusted advisor and communications counselor to corporate function leaders.

Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with relevant media outlets. Develop and execute media relations strategies to promote Voya’s key initiatives and enhance its public image within the corporate functions.

Crisis Communications: Anticipate key issues that could impact the corporate functions and develop proactive and reactive strategies and messaging to address them. Draft holding statements and Q&A documents for use with the media, employees, and other stakeholders.

Team Collaboration: Foster collaboration across the teams within the Brand and Communications team, ensuring a cohesive approach to communications across the corporate functions. Provide guidance and support to team members to execute key deliverables.

Brand Consistency: Ensure brand consistency in all communications, maintaining a unified and strategic approach to messaging across all platforms and audiences.

Industry Best Practices: Stay informed on industry best practices and proactively provide process-improvement suggestions to enhance communication strategies and outcomes.

Special Projects:  Manage special projects as needed to support the overall communications strategy and business objectives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • 10-plus years of experience in managing both internal and external communications, with at least 4 years in roles requiring strategy development and interaction with senior leadership teams.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry, preferably in retirement, asset management, or employee benefits businesses.
  • Strong executive presence and demonstrated expertise in balancing communications excellence and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to independently manage large-scale projects and campaigns with limited supervision.
