Overview

To maximize interior space planning and design, develop/manage related construction documents, and maintain inventory of open plan systems furniture used throughout the district. To provide data analysis and recommendations on ancillary space utilization to enhance decision-making and the efficiency of the district’s use of these facilities.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of working experience in facilities maintenance.
  • Must maintain a valid Florida Driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in drafting/AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Experience involving open plan furniture and demountable wall systems is preferred.
  • Three (3) years of progressive work experience in a responsible supervisor position in business administration, project management, construction, custodial operations, or related field is preferred.
  • The incumbent is considered to be “essential personnel” during an emergency and can be subject to being held over or called back to a district location at all times.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge and experience in disciplines of office space planning and management architectural design, building management, and knowledge of custodial operations. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; ability to read, interpret, translate, and apply state and local code compliance requirements. Knowledge of relational databases. Ability to analyze data and prepare accurate reports; demonstrated ability to create Excel, Word, and Access documents. Ability to interact effectively with legal counsel regarding lease agreement issues. Ability to plan and implement practical, efficient procedures and to communicate those to others. Strong listening skills and highly developed problem-solving ability. Ability to plan, schedule, instruct, and supervise custodial personnel. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous activities.REPORTS TO: Senior Facilities Manager, District ProgramsSUPERVISES: Oversees private contract vendors involved in projects within the Educational Leadership Center and other district locations as required. Supervise support personnel, as needed.MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT:Machines, tools, equipment, electronic devices, vehicles, etc., used in this position. Those activities in which detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed accurately, loudly or quickly.90 Hearing Acuity: The ability to perceive speech and other environmental sounds at normal loudness levels.90 Visual Acuity: The power to see at a level which allows reading of numbers and text, operation of equipment, inspection of machines, etc.Note: Will total more than 100 percent as several activities may be performed at one time.WORKING CONDITIONS:Conditions the worker will be subject to in this position.Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions.
