Overview
The Maintenance Planners role within the Tech Ops organization is to assist in oversight of the line maintenance operations. In support of this, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for the efficient planning of Remain Overnight (RON) / Long Ground Time Maintenance, Line Maintenance, and Special Maintenance Visits (SMV) activities, including Engine Changes, aircraft modifications, and other maintenance events as directed by Maintenance Planning Leadership / MCC and Local Station Leadership. The Maintenance Planner assists the MX Manager and reviews, develops, and modifies, as required, both short-term and long-term forecasted aircraft planning and maintenance work events at the assigned station, while considering the following: availability of staffing, required tooling, equipment, parts and materials, skill set and hours necessary to compete the assigned task. The Maintenance Planner must clearly communicate and coordinate efficiently with the following groups: Line Maintenance Local Management, Work Load Scheduling (WLS), Maintenance Planning, Engineering, Materials (Stores) and Purchasing (AOG Desk), Maintenance Control (MCC), and Fleet Managers, to ensure the success of the Line Maintenance Station.
Responsibilities
- Consistently evaluate and modify, as required, all existing planned maintenance events to be accomplished by both Atlas Air maintenance personnel and/or approved maintenance providers. This includes all work as noted on the ALM production control report, MCS Packages, DMI items, etc., this includes communication to MCC and Local Maintenance Mangers when and AOG event may impact scheduled maintenance due to resource alloction.
- Coordinate and implement through a daily TEAMS call with all Atlas Air and Contracted Vendor maintenance providers, scheduled RON / long GT workloads, including all schedule Maintenance Planning MCS Package visit information
- Complete daily review of all MEL items for required parts and communicate the need to requisition any parts or tooling needed to work MEL items to MCC for follow-up and inform local Station Management of any deficiencies
- Prepare and Print all MCS Work Packages for assigned shift and track completion of Work Orders assigned to the Station by Maintenance Planning and Workload Scheduling. Ensure Shift Leads are provided all MCS Talley Sheets and Task Cards, AP’s, ECM, EO’s, EA’s, etc. and communicate to the Shift Leads any special instructions
- Download and prepare any required Software for the Shift Leads from the Atlas LSAP site
- Complete review of all long term Planning Items, Action Plans & ECM’s for required manpower, parts and tooling
- Coordinate with Material Control (Stores) and AOG (Aircraft on Ground) Buyers to ensure that required parts arrive in time to complete scheduled or unscheduled maintenance
- Coordinate with local Station Stores / Tool Room to ensure that required tooling is available on-station to comply with scheduled or unscheduled maintenance
- Assist local Station Management in the Planning and coordination of the sequencing and allocation of daily workload for efficient use of staff, skill level, ground time, and facilities
- Maintain communication at all times and coordinate with Atlas Maintenance Planning and Work Load Scheduling to achieve compliance for all EO’s, EA’s and FCD issued by Engineering
- Be a resource for Maintenance Planners and Work Load Scheduling, share experience, make process improvement recommendations
- Reviews work request from MCC and Work Load Scheduling for accuracy and clarity: clear scope of work, realistic completion date, proper lead times, correct equipment identification, proper authorization, and reviews with Local Station Maintenance Management
- Reviews the work to be performed and assists the Maintenance Manager in determining the best way to accomplish the work
- Provide two way communication and feedback, when required, from the station to any external requests for additional work from MCC, Work Load Scheduling and Maintenance Planning and providing up to date information to the MX Manager of additional work requests
- Assists Local Station Management in Invoice Review
- Performs a daily turnover with Local Station Maintenance Managers and Leads to ensure smooth transition of pending items during the aircraft visit
- Acts as a liaison between the Leads and Maintenance Managers to establish and maintain a seamless workflow while providing necessary assistance to support redelivering an aircraft on schedule
- Interfaces with other Atlas Maintenance Planners on work order status for the aircraft to ensure that all maintenance related task cards & MCS Packages have successfully entered into the Atlas Planning FTP Site
