Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate or Experienced Level Equipment and Tool Engineers to support site tooling, including the Phase 3 Fanduct tool design at the San Antonio, TX site. 

The position will be responsible for assisting the fan duct program with, but not limited to, the following: development/design of Special Tooling to define product configuration within a manufacturing environment, produce/draft Tool Engineering blueprints/drawings that fully define the Engineering and fabrication requirements of Special Tools per all applicable Boeing standards, authoring of Tool Usage Instructions, development of post-fabrication inspection/maintenance requirements, perform shipside operational support defining rework/repair methodologies for existing unit of Tooling, developing long-term manufacturing solutions in support of production goals, and tooling integration. In addition, the role will assist the team in the creation of key milestones for the overhaul process and a prioritized delivery schedule putting the KC-135 Fanduct back into production.

The successful candidate will lead the development of sophisticated equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to meet aerospace product design and manufacturing requirements. This role involves overseeing design reviews, gathering design requirements, and managing the creation and revision of technical drawings. The candidate will conduct research on the application of robotics, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance the build plan as necessary. Additionally, they will analyze designs to ensure compliance with safety standards, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic considerations, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities also include establishing and validating spare parts requirements, championing the integration of best practices into functional process documentation to promote standardized work procedures, and defining comprehensive documentation for equipment and tooling inspection, usage instructions, preventative maintenance plans, and user training. The candidate will provide technical guidance to facilitate engineering changes and resolve discrepancies, as well as evaluate and make recommendations regarding the disposition of equipment and tooling.

Position Responsibilities (Level Dependent):

  • Develops simple through complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews existing Tool Engineering requirements to support documentation of discrepancies and development of repair/rework instructions for disposition of non-conforming assets.
  • Supports contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts design reviews, prepares tool related documents and plans for tool usage and preventative maintenance.
  • Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design for equipment and tooling.
  • Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel on Tool Usage.
  • Develops and implements moderately complex workarounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation.
  • Supports studies for disposition of assets.
  • Supports verification of compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements on new tool designs.
  • Researches and identifies alternate technologies including robotics, automation or technology recommendations and system integration for equipment and tooling in improve current manufacturing methodologies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may be requested to support other programs as needed.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering or chemistry.
  • 1+ years of experience in working in an Equipment or Tool Engineering role.
  • 1+ years of experience in developing conceptual designs for tooling fixtures.
  • Working knowledge of Catia V5 or equivalent CAD/CAM software.
  • Expertise in reading, interpreting, and enforcing standardized manufacturing processes,
