Job Description

The Program Director, Magnet  reflect the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Program Director will lead planning and implementation activities for Northwestern Memorial Hospital. This will include managing a portfolio of projects of strategic and operational importance to the organization. The Program Director will develop project work plans and performance metrics, monitor work plans and metrics to assure activities are executed on-time and on-budget, coordinate the internal and external resources to complete activities as assigned using established Process Improvement and Project Management Methodologies.  The Program Director will effectively communicate at all levels of Management and will work closely with managers, directors and analysts to develop work plans, metrics and resources to achieve the department’s strategic goals and objectives. 

Responsibilities:

  • Helps to create an environment that supports nurses’ professional practice, health and well-being.
    • Coaches and mentors caregivers in their career development.
    • Advances professional nursing practice by nurse certification, BSN education, professional organization involvement, and volunteerism across the assigned service line.
  • Facilitates teams to develop Magnet Sources of Evidence and Empirical Outcomes.
  • Facilitates implementation of evidence-based practice.
    • Advances the Nursing Strategic Plan and the Interprofessional Relationship-Based Care Practice Model through the implementation of evidence-based practice. 
  • Attracts and develops exceptional care givers and provides those care givers with an environment that fosters excellence through continuous learning.
    • Identifies new strategies for the recruitment and retention of exceptional caregivers.
    • Promotes innovation and research to advance care patient care models.
    • Encourages, mentors and coaches team member in advancing innovation through research and evidence.
  • Facilitates innovations in patient and family centered care that fosters quality, safety and effectiveness and serves as a model patient care nationally.
  • Leads the development and implementation of approaches to attain top decile performance on all quality and patient satisfaction metrics.
    • Coaches and develops unit-based quality committees to advance top decile performance.
    • Monitors outcomes, tracks trends, and develops improvement plans for designated area(s).
    • Supports team by providing and analyzing data as needed.
  • Leads teams in the development and completion of all Magnet documents; including internal Magnet data reports, Magnet annual reports, Magnet interim reports, and the Magnet document.
  • Manages people and resources to ensure timely development and completion of Magnet documents

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 8-10 years industry experience.
  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft: Word, Excel, Power Point, Project
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, demonstrated analysis and problem solving skills, excellent oral and communication skills, demonstrated ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with peers and constituents at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent capability to lead projects with budgets in excess of $1,000,000.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
