MS SQL Server Database Administrator

What does a successful MS SQL Server Database Administrator do at Fiserv?

You will be a part of the payments business unit that hosts technology solutions for billing and payment to companies. Our solutions equip companies with the ability to offer their consumer base electronic paperless billing (e-bills) and electronic payments, credits, and debits in channels including the company’s website, bank or financial institution websites. You will focus on resolving issues for our financial payments team. You will work with vendors, partners, and customer IT teams to resolve high visibility and high priority issues and communicate resolution actions. You will apply corrections and adjustments to database records while adhering to industry best practice methods.

What you will do:

  • Support production environment and work tickets related to customer payments, autopay, recurring payments, and investigate why payments failed
  • Investigate SQL job failures, investigate and improve stored procedures, investigate all performance issues and provide suggestions and fixes to maintain peak performance
  • Provide high emphasis on Dev (Code) DBA skills to compliment troubleshooting production incidents. Reverse engineer code and troubleshoot ticket incidents and resolve
  • Create and debug complex stored procedures and triggers
  • Create new SSIS on demand to process files and reports. Convert DTS packages to SSIS. Troubleshoot failed SSIS
  • Create complex reports on demand from customers, using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Utilize Quest Foglight to research and troubleshoot performance issues
  • Handle escalations outside of normal business hours

What you will need to have:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience of SQL Server DBA support in a production environment that stresses incident ownership and resolution pertaining to SQL issues within the SQL 2012, 2016, 2019 hosted on Windows 2012 environment
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with SQL and T-SQL, including queries, stored procedures, functions, tables, joins, schema and constraints, and data flow and logic in complex stored procedures to bypass issues and optimize as needed
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL Service Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and understanding of 3rd party applications such as Quest Foglight and Splunk
  • Thorough understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) to troubleshoot and resolve file loading failures
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, military, and work experience

What would be great to have:

  • MS SQL Server DBA certification
  • 2+ years in Financial Services industry
